Additional supplier for electric three-wheeled scooters

Swiss Post’s legendary three-wheeled scooters are now also being supplied from Jura.

The first electric three-wheeled scooter from vRbikes.ch was handed over to Swiss Post at the delivery point in Urtenen-Schönbühl (BE). CompCar had organized the public tender. vRbikes is based in Zug and is part fo the vonRoll infratec group. The vehicles are produced and assembled in Choindex in the canton of Jura. Like the familiar Kyburz DXP vehicles, the three-wheelers from Jura are used for letter and parcel deliveries. Post Company Cars regularly puts all Swiss Post vehicle batches out to tender. The contract will be awarded to the company that meets all of Swiss Post’s requirements and submits the most economical bid. With Kyburz and vRbikes, Swiss Post currently has two suppliers of electric three-wheeled scooters.

“I am pleased that we were able to contribute our many years of expertise to the procurement of the electric scooters and creation of the processes”, says Andreas Liniger, Head of Customer and Partner Management at Post Company Cars. Renato Ercolani, responsible for vehicle management with the customer Logistics Services, adds: “Use of the electric three-wheeled scooters has proven very successful in recent years, and now we are pleased to be able to supplement our fleet with new models”. Swiss Post has around 6,000 scooters in operation, saving 7,000 tonnes of CO2 every year. This is equivalent to the CO2 emissions that one person would cause with approximately 2,700 return flights from Zurich to New York.

Representatives from Post Company Cars, Logistics Services, vRbikes and partner garage SteinerTech attended the vehicle handover.
